A new record for the S+P 500 this week perhaps?

As the Dow Jones futures continue to eye a new opening record and all-time record high later today, the S+P 500 future is not far behind it. However, it is lagging slightly so far today. To remind the reader on that; the S+P 500 has set a record high so far this year, at 6,017.31. That was before the index fell back to a most recent low around 5,850. The index closed on Friday at 5,969.34, with a gain of 20.63 points on the day. The index future has been pricing an opening close to the 6k level today, but so far not above that price point. Now in terms of the broader picture for US stocks, the S+P should be a better barometer of how the impact of Scott Bessent assuming the role of Treasury Secretary than perhaps the Dow Jones? Well, so far this morning it is not playing out that way, but perhaps we shall find out; whether or not there is a new all time high for the S+P this week, ahead of the Thanksgiving holidays and the month-end. The S+P 500 is currently priced to reopen at around 5,997
