Nasdaq 100 still in the red as important tech earnings loom

Earlier today the Nasdaq 100 opened lower (at 20,510) but did manage to push a little higher, just above where the index had closed last night, at 20,550. The high seen was set earlier at 20,559, but since then it has fallen back to a session low at 20,408. To remind the reader: we have two tech titans soon to report their Q3 earnings just after the closing bell this evening. The first comes at around 8.05pm GMT and that is Meta (META), where Q3 revenue is forecast to be $40.27 billion, with an EPS of $5.24. Then at approximately 8.10pm GMT we get the same from Microsoft (MSFT), where Q3 revenue is expected to be at $64.49 billion, with an EPS of $3.09. Microsoft is not just quoted on the Nasdaq 100, it is also a major Dow Jones stock (ranked no.3) . Microsoft and Meta are also ranked 3 and 5 by weight within the S+P 500 index, and that is the same in terms of the Nasdaq weighting too. So, as you can see, these important earnings reports this evening have implications for the price action across all three major indexes and certainly have the power to shift the dial, if there are any major surprises in the next hour. The Nasdaq 100 is currently trading at 20,447
