Nasdaq 100 stalls into the close as the first big tech report awaits tonight

As reported in the previous update, the Nasdaq 100 made no progress whatsoever yesterday. In fact, the index closed just 1 point lower, at 20,351, Perhaps a key reason for that was due to the proximity of those 5 mag 7 stocks reporting earnings this week. The schedule on that was outlined here yesterday, so it will not be repeated here today. So, this evening we get the first of those reporting their Q3 earnings just after the closing bell this evening. Please remember that US close is earlier than usual this week, at 8pm GMT. As that closing bell rings tonight we will get the results from Alphabet (GOOGL) and the markets are expecting an increase in earnings to around $86 billion with an EPS of $1.84. Of course the devil could well be in the detail and the breakdown of those earnings. Ahead of this the Nasdaq 100 was clearly taking no chances into the close last night. The futures are a little higher this morning though, currently pricing the opening at around 20,400. Quick news will be on hand to report those earnings and any potential impact this evening
