Nasdaq 100 lifts above 20,500 for the first time ever on the opening today

The US stock markets have not long been open and it was a higher opening for the Nasdaq 100, but not so for the Dow Jones. That index has more closely tracked the losses in Europe right now and that has seen all the major indexes here fall even further. The looses in Europe are still being led by the CAC 40, but the FTSE 100 have fallen quite a bit more too. Meantime, over the pond the Nasdaq 100 continues to underscore the tech driven nature of this divergence in both the US and European markets. The index has traded to a high at 20,543 after opening at a record level of 20,504 today. It has backed away from that high just now though, currently trading at 20,502
