Nasdaq 100 leads as US stocks hold gains into the weekend

The US stock markets did not reverse into the weekly close on Friday. They all held most of their gains to the end of the session. The lead was once again the tech sector and the Nasdaq 100, which closed 1.99% higher. That compared to a 1.26% rise for the S+P 500 and 1.18% for the Dow Jones. The Nasdaq 100 closed 349 points higher, at 17,890, which was just below a technical level at 17,895 (61.8% of the 18,464-16,973 fall). However, the index did reach a high ahead of the close, at 17,926. The price action across the Asian markets and into the European opening a little later this morning has seen the Nasdaq 100 futures edge a little from highs near 17,950. The current indication is for the index to reopen broadly unchanged, at around 17,885
