Nasdaq 100 leads as US stock markets close in the red

The noted failure of the Nasdaq 100 to reclaim the 16k level on the opening yesterday delivered a fall that saw the index unable to recapture any upside momentum and that failure lasted all the way into the close. The index fell to 15,776 and closed near that low too. The Nasdaq 100 ended the session at 15,788, with a loss of 89 points on the day. Overnight the Asian markets are all lower too and being led by losses in Japan. The Nikkei 225 is currently down by around 1.75% and the noted higher JGB yields and firmer Yen have weighed on stocks there. That has also ensured there is currently no rebound in the Nasdaq 100 futures so far this morning.
