Eventually the US stock markets managed to squeeze out a slightly higher close last night. Ahead of that though there were a good many swings and a lot of chopping and changing and rotation between the Dow Jones and the Nasdaq indexes. However, by the close it was the Nasdaq 100 that fared the best on the day, rising by 0.39%. That compared to a 0.18% rise for the Dow. The modest stock index gains came a mid no further rise in US yields and further consolidation on the gains posted on Friday after the US jobs report. The Nasdaq 100 closed 73 points higher, at 19,074. Overnight the Asian stock markets are mixed, with modest gains in Japan more than offset by heavier falls across all the Chinese markets. Consequently, the Nasdaq 100 futures are a little lower this morning and currently pricing the opening at around 19,055
