The latest headwind to hit the FTSE 100

On Friday the FTSE 100 closed above 7,700  (7,706) and ahead of weekend it looked like the index might finally start to make up some lost ground in comparative terms. Well, that has not been the case and these days, it seems there is a continuous supply of headwinds, that just keep coming. Today it is the heavily weighted housing sector that has prevented the FTSE 100 for making progress. I will not go into detail on that, but rest assured it is a sector that has dragged the FTSE lower so far today- not by much though. The move back towards 1.27 in the GBP/USD and lower oil prices have merely added to the lack of traction. The FTSE 100 is currently trading at 7,685
