Gold steps back from a new record high at $2,195

On Friday Gold shot higher again, but the price action was by no means one-way,, because it had earlier fallen back from a new record high around 2,185, to below 2,160 first. The further push higher that followed came just after the European close and it saw the metal spike higher once more, from around 2,170, to reach a new all time high, at $2,195.15. It later closed the week at $2,178.96. That was a new all time record daily and weekly close too. The price action today has been more contained in terms of price swings. The range seen has been covered by 2,176.95 to 2,189.07. Gold is currently trading at $2,178.90
