Gold rises to set a new record high above $2,222
Gold has been pressing higher for most of the afternoon since reclaiming the $2,200 level earlier today. Well, that push has now resulted in a new all time record high for the metal a moment ago at above $2,222 and it may not be finished with yet. It is unclear where the fresh demand is stemming from, but as with recent gains it would seem to stem from Central Bank buying.
