Yesterday an update here noted how Gold might extend if it took out the earlier Asian high just above $2,922. Well, it took all day to make that move and it took the news from Trump to deliver it. Lower US yields since this time yesterday have also helped propel the move. The 10 year note is now some 10 basis points lower. Since the close last night, at $2,928.21, the metal has just advanced further and has lifted close to the record high it set on February 11, at $2,942.68. The high seen just now was set at $2,936.83. The prospect of a new all time high this morning looks live today, but of course not guaranteed. The low seen earlier this morning was set at $2,923.30. The metal is currently trading at $2,934.75
