Gold makes progress today as Yen lifts

The slide below 141.70 has played nicely into the hands of the Gold bugs today. The metal has lifted to reach its best levels of the week so far. The high seen earlier today was set at $2,522.59. That means the metal is once again within $10 of reaching the current 2024 and record high, at $2,531.75. The path from here on would seem to rest with how the USD/JPY trades from here on, but of course that is not necessarily the only driver. The stock markets and US yields will play a role too and right now the US futures are in the red and that is supportive. US yields are a little lower this morning too. The earlier low seen in Gold today was set at $2,515.07 after setting close last night at $2,516.73. Gold is currently trading at $2,519.50
