Gold higher this morning after setting a record daily and weekly close

Gold continued to press higher later on Friday just after the European close. The metal pressed on to set a new all time high, at $2,586.10 and later closed out the week in the US at $2,577.70- a new all time daily and weekly close. The price action in Asia today has seen the metal helped higher by further Yen strength and that has delivered a new record this morning. It was noted here on Friday; that a path to $2,600 looked pretty clear and so the metal has taken another step closer to that level. The new all time high set this morning has been at $2,589.50. Gold is currently trading at $2,588.90
