Gold has a very close look at $2,800 for the first time ever

A series of updates here yesterday noted the potential for Gold to get its name in the record books and as reported, that is exactly what took place. The break above the existing record high, at $2,790.10 delivered a new record at $2,798.59 ahead of the US close. Gold later set a new record daily close, at $2,794.59. Earlier today, right at the start of the Asian session, Gold tried to vault the $2,800 handle again. However, for the time being that level has capped the topside. The high seen earlier was set at $2,799.65. Prior to at new all time high Gold set a low at $2,792.80. US yields are a little higher this morning, but so far that has not dented the metal, but as ever it is important to keep an eye on those. For now, it looks like $2,800 is a line in the sand, but we shall see if that remains the case as the day unfolds. Gold is currently trading at $2,794.65
