Gold has a close look at $2,600 today

Earlier today Gold lifted smartly towards $2,600. The news surrounding the situation in Ukraine (Apparent granting of missile use beyond its borders) seems to have been the catalyst for the move to a high seen earlier at $2,597.30. It has backed down from that high right now though. The metal had closed on the US on Friday, at $2,563.25 and it had not traded below that low earlier today. The low since the earlier session high has been set just ahead of $2,580. Beyond $2,600 itself, the next potential resting point could be a previous high seen last week, at $2,618.92. Gold is currently trading at $2,586.05
