Gold extends gains to above $2,718 after US data

The price action in Gold so far today has seen the metal edge higher after each time it has dipped. That saw the metal more recently reject another fall below $2,700 and then lift to new session highs, just as the US data hit the screens. In fact Gold has just now set a new session high, as I write this update. The metal has lifted above $2,718. The longer term daily chart has a pretty clearly defined double top in place above $2,720 (2,721 and 2,726) and this was highlighted the other day. Well, as you can see, gold is forcing its way ever closer to that price region. The question as to whether it can get above the upper end of that double top remains open for the time being. Gold is right now at $2,716.55
