GBP/USD sets first daily close above 1.28 since July 2023

It might be hard to believe, but the GBP/USD set its first daily close above 1.28 yesterday since the end of July last year. The Pound closed in the US at 1.2809. The question right now; is can it make further headway, closer to the 1.30 handle from now on? Well, given the slide in the dollar it would seem a more likely prospect now than it has for the whole of this year so far. The US monthly jobs report could decide, if it takes a further step towards achieving that later today. The price action has delivered a tight range so far this morning, with 1.2804 to 1.2820 covering it as I write. There will doubtless be more to add on that as the day unfolds. The GBP/USD is currently trading at 1.2809
