Since an earlier update here today noted the weakness of the Yen versus all of its major counterparts, the Japanese currency has now lost more ground on some of the crosses. That has delivered a further rise in the GBP/JPY. That is also because the GBP/USD has lifted from its earlier session lows, at the same time as the USD/JPY remains near session highs. Consequently, the GBP/JPY has now risen above the existing 2024 high, at 191.31. The Pound has now lifted to reach a new high at 191.53, set a moment ago and it may not be finished with the upside yet. That is the highest level for the GBP/JPY since 2015.
