FTSE sets a new all time high above 8,700
Since the higher effective opening for the FTSE 100, the index has now gotten its name in the record books once again. The index has now lifted above 8,700 for the first time ever. The gains in the FTSE 100 come as the DAX extends it rise above 21,700 and closer to 21,750 and the CAC rises towards 7,950. The CAC 40 got a lift yesterday after the new French Prime minister survived two confidence votes. Turning back to the FTSE 100, if one saw the record this morning, one might be forgiven for thinking there is more than just a 0.25% rate cut coming from the BOE later today. Well, we shall see how that plays out in just over 3 hours from now. The FTSE 100 is currently trading at 8,710
