Yesterday the FTSE 100 managed to close slightly higher. The index pretty much matched the tepid gains seen in the DAX, with a 0.12% rise on the day. The DAX closed 0.13% higher and the CAC 40 was the worst performer amongst the three, with a loss of 0.03%. So, the FTSE 100 peaked at 8,331.05 and later closed at 8,311.76. Earlier today the index was priced to reopen close to 8,275, but the futures have since rebounded. However, given the whole batch of UK data released just now; is that rebound going to hold when the index reopens? Fundamentally it should not and whilst the latest UK GDP data was not dire, the prospect of it improving in the next 3 months is almost non-existent right now. The FTSE 100 is currently priced to reopen around 8,305
