FTSE 100 sets a new all time closing high

Yesterday the rebound in the FTSE 100 saw the index come very close to the noted high seen earlier this year, at 8,044. In the event though, the index could not quite surpass that, or its current wall time high at 8,047, reached last year. The index topped out at 8,042.81 and later fell back slightly to set a close at 8,023.87. However, that was nevertheless an all time record daily close for the UK index. Since the close and gains on Wall Street, the FTSE 100 futures have indicated a higher opening for later this morning and as things currently stand, it could be a red letter opening for the FTSE 100 today. The current indication from the futures would suggest an effective reopening today and levels not seen before. Currently that is just above 8,070, but of course there is still around 90 minutes to go before the index officially reopens
