FTSE 100 set for a higher opening this morning

Yesterday the FTSE 100 barely managed to make any headway. The index closed just 4.57 points higher, at 8,288. It was not the worst performing index, as that mantle belonged to the CAC 40, but more on that and the DAX in a minute. As noted, the combination of lower oil prices and a higher Pound helped to dampen demand for UK stocks. Well, since then the Oil price has bounced and the Pound has not made any further progress (yet) versus the dollar and that has helped to lift the FTSE 100 futures ahead of the opening this morning. The index topped out yesterday at 8,318.55 and right now it looks like it might reopen above that prior session high. As such that could be positive for more upside, but we need to see where it actually opens shortly and then what transpires after that. The FTSE 100 is right now priced to reopen at 8,320
