FTSE 100 passes 8,500 for the first time ever

The FTSE 100 is still outperforming its European peers this morning. That outperformance has now see the FTSE rise above the 8,500 handle for the first time ever. It is possible that this breakout move above 8,474 could even extend further as the day unfolds. The index is still feeding off the UK mining merger speculation and lower UK yields. The UK 10 year note touched 4.90% at the start of the week. It is now falling very close to 4.60%. That coupled with the technical aspect to the index and the charts is pushing the index to fresh records this morning
