FTSE 100 futures in the red this morning
As mentioned here a little earlier when looking at the opening outlook for the DAX this morning, the FTSE 100 was the best performing major European stock market index yesterday. The FTSE came pretty close to recapturing the 8k handle, when it topped out at 7,984.19. However, it could not do that and later handed back some of its gains. Nevertheless, the index still closed 208.45 points higher, at 7,910.53. Well, as you are surely aware this morning, the index futures have taken a hit since then in view of all the fresh developments since that close. At one point the FTSE 100 was priced to reopen close to 7,600. It is still set to open sharply lower though, and with less than 30 minutes to go before live trade resumes, that effective opening is right now not much above 7,700
