FTSE 100 futures in the red this morning and the sales data has not helped

Yesterday the FTSE 100 rebounded into the close. The index managed to end the day above 8,200, at 8,204.89, with a gain of 17 points on the day. However, that close was well below the high seen earlier in the day, when the index had reached 8,267.78. The later slide in the US markets and most notably the Dow Jones helped to push the FTSE 100 futures lower after the close and the further falls in the DAX futures added to that downside. The worse than expected UK sales data just released has not helped the opening outlook for this morning either and right now the FTSE 100 is priced to open around 8,170. There will be another update after the opening, to see how that has translated into early live trading
