We have had two FTSE 100 heavyweight stocks reporting Q1 earnings today and they are Barclays Bank and GlaxoSmithkline and both have beaten the street. That news has helped to lift the FTSE 100 futures ever so slightly ahead of the opening. The index enjoyed another decent day yesterday, when it reached a new rebound high, at 8,470.40. The index later closed 46.12 points higher, at 7,463.46. Earlier it was priced to effectively reopen close to, or even above 8,500. It has pared that outlook now, but given those earnings reports, it could later have a look at that 8,500 level, when live trading resumes shortly.
