The FTSE 100 joined the CAC and the DAX with a lower daily close yesterday. As reported on earlier in the day, the index was initially led lower by losses in Burberry. That stock later fell by just over 16% into the close. The FTSE 100 closed 69.95 points lower, at 8,182.96. The index is set to open lower this morning. The FTSE managed to avoid a fall below the 8,100 on July 2, but only just. It is currently priced to reopen this morning close to the lows seen that day, at around 8,105. The opening call is just now at around 8,140. So a potential fall below 8,100 looks like it might be on the radar this morning and a break below that level might deliver an extension. We shall have to see, whether or not that transpires, when live trading resumes shortly. The lower oil price today is also a headwind for the FTSE 100 in the short term.
