Yesterday the FTSE 100 was dragged higher by the records being set across the channel in the DAX, but given those gains, the FTSE 100 still dragged its heels, despite closing 25 points higher, at 7,515. The index did reach a high at 7,542 at one stage. Of course the slide in oil prices was a massive headwind for the index too and had the DAX not dragged it higher, then it probably would have closed lower anyway. Well, it has just now reopened, effectively lower, but it always books a restart where it ended the day before. Do not ask me what that is, because it makes no sense, but it is what it is. So, in real terms the index has just this minute reopened and has been an effective lower start to the session. The FTSE 100 is currently trading at 7,489
