FTSE 100 edges to a new all time high above 8,590

The FTSE 100 has been making steady progress since the opening this morning and not long ago the index edged to a new all time high, surpassing the previous record, at 8,586. The FTSE 100 just now edged above 8,590.The record today come as the DAX breaks new ground and the GBP/USD edges a little lower. As noted here earlier, the prospect of a BOE rate cut next week has certainly garnered more traction in recent days. There will be more to add on that prospect in the days ahead, but what might be good for the FTSE 100 could infer the opposite for the currency. The index is right now trading at 8,585
