FTSE 100 could be seriously in the spotlight by this time tomorrow

As covered here at the time, the FTSE 100 did have a brief look below 8k yesterday. The low print was set at 7,995, but it did not stay down there for very long. The index rebounded into the close, ending the session just 4.56 points higher, at 8,030. The index is not pricing a higher opening right now though, but ever since the US close the FTSE futures have held above the 8k level. The outlook for the UK remains uncertain though and there could be some huge news later today after the close, which could be significant. If the Chancellor unlocks a vast amount of public sector pension cash to work on infrastructure that could have a huge impact on the FTSE and the UK Gilt (UK Government bonds). There will be more detail to add on this later today, ahead of her speech this evening. The FTSE 100 will shortly reopen and the effective price on that is currently around 8,020
