Very shortly, at 12pm GMT the Bank of England will announce their final monetary policy decision of the year. The markets are probably as close to 100% in pricing no change from the BOE as they could be. Of course there is always a chance the markets might be wrong, but if they are, it will be an even bigger shock to the system than what the Fed delivered last night. Ahead of this the Pound has continued to hold a rebound for the very same reason- the Base rate remaining at 4.75%. At the same time the FTSE 100 has continued to edge lower since an earlier update noted it was struggling to make any headway beyond 8,100. The index is now tracking towards 8,075 and consequently on session lows. Incidentally, the DAX did do as expected and have a look below the 20k handle earlier. So, are we going to get a surprise from the BOE in around 15 minutes? Very unlikely it seems
