As expected the FTSE 100 comes out on top yesterday

An update here early yesterday morning suggested the lack of tech within the FTSE 100 should endorse its relative outperformance by the close of play. Well, that is exactly how it played out by the close. The FTSE 100 was the only major European index to not end the day in the red, albeit by the narrowest of margins- just 1 point. So, the index also managed to a forge a close back above 8,500, at 8,503.71. Since before the US close, the gains in the Dow Jones helped to lift the FTSE 100 futures, to price an effective opening for this morning at above 8,030. However, it has now pared that outlook and right now it is pricing the opening just below the 8,500 handle. There will be more to add in due course
