EUR/USD lifts and reverses after Merz elected as Chancellor of Germany

The EUR/USD just popped to fresh session highs a moment ago after news broke concerning the German government. Merz has now been elected to the office of Chancellor at the second round of voting. The EUR/USD just lifted to 1.1369i on this news. The Euro has pared that rise almost as fast though and perhaps it was not such a surprise as the headline might suggest. The news has lifted the DAX though and pushed it back towards 23,250, after it had fallen back earlier today, setting a low at 22,861. The EUR/USD is right now falling back a bit more, currently trading at 1.1350
