Since the last update here on Christmas eve, the EUR/USD has held a range covered by 1.0384 to 1.0430. The EUR/USD was trading in the US yesterday and of course in Asia today and that has seen it edge back down from a US close last night at 1.0422 and an earlier high today, at 1.0424. The low seen so far has just been set at 1.0405. The fact that US continuing jobless claims reached the highest level of the year yesterday is surely what helped the EUR/USD reach 1.0430 yesterday afternoon and the slight fall in US treasury yields surely helped too. However, in truth the Euro could have done better, but we have to remember the trend for the US dollar is still very much in the ascendancy. That is keeping a lid on any Euro rallies. So, the wider range (1.0335-1.0450) noted here many times already remains intact for now as the European markets get off to a rather subdued start today. The EUR/USD is currently trading at 1.0406
