European stocks slips ahead of EU Sales data due shortly- CAC 40 leads the way
At 9am GMT the Eurozone will release its latest pan-regional retail sales data. This is expected to show a flat, or slight contraction in March after sales grew modestly in February by 0.3%. Ahead of this release in a couple of minutes, the European equity markets are edging lower. The DAX is approaching the 23,200 handle and on session lows and the CAC 40 and FTSE 100 are lower as well. The CAC 40 has been underperforming all morning so far and that seems to acting as drag on the other two. The index closed last night at 7,696 and reopened today at 7,668. It is trading right now at 7,655
