The higher closes in the US last night have not seemingly helped the European opening outlook this morning. Yesterday the CAC 40 led the gains in the major European stock indexes, rising by 1.09%. That compared to a 0.30% rise for the DAX and a more anaemic gain of just 0.03% for the FTSE 100. There will be more to add on those in other updates. The CAC 40 closed 81 points higher, at 7,561, but that close was some way below the earlier session high, at 7,688. This morning the index future is eying a lower opening right now and closer to the 7,500 handle. That might change in the next hour or so, but overall the rise seen yesterday looked based on a dynamic that could so easily be flawed and the second round of the French election very much remains a live risk event next weekend. The CAC 40 is currently priced to reopen around 7,530
