European stocks set for a mixed opening today as FTSE 100 lags peers

The DAX and the CAC 40 futures are indicating a modestly higher opening this morning, following another day of gains for stocks here in Europe yesterday. The CAC led those closing gains, with a rise of 0.70% on the day. That compared to a gain of 0.55% for the FTSE 100 and 0.54% for the DAX. However, immediately after the close, the FTSE 100 futures dropped back and that looks due to the usual dynamics. The slide in the oil price and further gains in the Pound versus the dollar helped to push the FTSE futures lower and right now the index is priced to open slightly lower, where that is not the case for the DAX and the CAC. The FTSE 100 closed yesterday at 8,356. It is just now priced to reopen around 8,330 and we shall shortly see just how much of a drag the Pound and oil is on the index, when it resumes live trading
