As noted here earlier today, the DAX is closed today and it so are several other European indexes too. The FTSE 100 is open and so is the CAC 40. The FTSE has just effectively reopened lower and it will be an early close for the FTSE 100 today. The index will close at 12.30pm GMT. From research here it looks like the CAC 40 will close early today as well. The index has just reopened and it has just kicked off a little lower. The index closed at 7,313 with a loss of 41 points yesterday. Whatever happens today it has not been a great second half of 2024 for the CAC. Since the outcome of the French elections in the summer, the index has fallen back from a record high at 8,259. The second half nadir was seen in August when it came perilously close to a break below 7k. Well, as you can see right now, the index is not really that much off the lows of the summer, as the Year-end approaches.
