European stocks not rushing at the start- check out the FTSE 100

Yesterday, as noted here the FTSE 100 was the best performing major European stock market index. That said, it was not a huge gain by any means. The index put on just 27 points, when closing at 7,724. That 0.36% rise on the day compared to gains of 0.21% for the DAX and just 0.04% for the CAC 40. The FTSE 100 has opened a little higher this morning, but given the records on Wall Street last night and the surge in the Chinese markets this morning, it could have done better. The fall in oil prices since this time yesterday and the GBP/USD above 1.28 is a clear drag on proceedings this morning. The index is a little higher though, but not yet in the party mood, like its US cousins, that is for sure. The FTSE 100 is currently trading at 7,740
