Last week the FTSE 100 set a new all time high, at 8,767.50. However, the news from Trump did send it slightly lower into the weekly close. The index had closed on Thursday, at 8,728.28. It closed on Friday, 26.75 points lower, at 8,700.53. The index has just reopened and it has been an effectively higher opening this morning, but it has not broken any fresh ground yet. The opening gains in the DAX are helping it a little higher and so are shares of BP in opening trade. That stock is a major FTSE component and it is higher by around 5.30% in opening trade.
