European stocks fall on the opening- DAX drops below 16,500
The European stock markets have just now reopened for live trading and it has not been a great start to the day. That was always going to be the case, but the initial losses have deepened more than was priced into the futures before live trading resumed. So, the DAX has fallen below 16,500 now, as the FTSE 100 takes out 7,550 and the US futures fall further into the red. As noted here earlier this morning, the risk of the DAX retesting its current 2024 low (16,448) seemed live. Well, as you can see, the index has dropped even closer to that level on the opening today. The low seen so far has been set at around 16,475. The DAX is trying to rebound a bit now though, currently trading at 16,503
