European stocks off the boil now-check out the CAC 40

The surge in the US futures overnight since the close helped to ensure a higher opening for markets here in Europe. That saw all three major indexes open higher, but the gains have since dissipated in the first hour of trading. The DAX has therefore so far rejected any notion of a new all time high and stepped back towards 18,800 just now. The CAC 40 closed yesterday at 7,444. It jumped into the opening this morning, resuming live trading at 7,557. However, so far that has been pretty much the top of the day, as the index peaked at 7,561. It is just now tracking back towards that 7,500 handle again and we shall have to wait and see, if the index can buck the recent trend of avoiding a daily close above 7,500 later on. It is just now trading at 7,525
