The Dow Jones will not reopen today but the futures are still trading

Due to the day of mourning in the US later today, in respect of the late former US President, Jimmy Carter, the US stock markets will not be open for live trading. The US futures are still trading though and right now all are off their lowest levels since the US close last night. As noted here earlier today, the Dow Jones was the best performing major US index, whilst not exactly setting much of a gain. The index put on just 0.25% last night, when it closed 106 points higher, at 42,635. Earlier today the index was priced to reopen tomorrow towards 42,460, but it is just now back very close to where it closed last night. Pretty soon we are going to see some Dow Jones big guns reporting their Q4 earnings reports and that will be something to take note of from next week onwards. Ahead of that, the December monthly jobs report is the next important event on the radar for the index tomorrow, barring any other fresh headlines in the meantime.
