Dow Jones turns around early session gains and slides into the close

Well, the Dow Jones sure did a volte face yesterday after the European close. The index was already turning lower, from an earlier record opening (41,156) and a new all time record high, at 41,376. The slide that followed saw the index drop to a low at 40,597 before later closing 533 points lower, at 40,665. So, that was some turnaround and one that led a one-dimensional lower close for all the major US stock market indexes yesterday. Overnight the Dow Jones futures are slightly higher though, despite a mostly red session out in Asia today. The Dow is currently priced to reopen at around 40,690
