The likely rotation noted here ahead of the US stock market opening extended further and that saw the Dow Jones rise to set a new all time high, at 41,733. At the same time the Nasdaq 100 ended the session lower and that ensured there were no records set in the S+P 500. The Dow was led higher by gains in the Cisco and Intel and the more than 6% rise in the latter countered losses seen in Apple, which was the worst performing stock within the Dow Jones yesterday. The Dow Jones later ended the session 228 points higher, at 41,622 and that was a new record daily close for the index. Overnight the Japanese markets have returned, but have not followed suit. The Nikkei 225 is currently lower by more than 500 points. That has dented both the USD/JPY and the Dow Jones futures to a lesser degree. So, right now the index is priced to reopen a little lower, but not by anything of consequence at this stage
