Yesterday the Dow Jones was the laggard amongst the major US stock indexes. The Dow closed lower by 40 points, which in real terms is nothing for this index. The close at 34,112 ended a range on the day of 33,996 to 34,252. So, as you can see it was well off the high and below the opening level, at 34,185. The index is currently set to open a little higher today though. The high seen yesterday stalled just short of the 100 day moving average (then at 34,264) and it looks like sellers emerged ahead of that. So, the current price action remains sandwiched in between that and the 50 and 200 day moving averages on the downside (at 33,851 and 33,812 respectively). That might change later today. There is not much on the US economic release calendar today though, with the usual weekly jobless claims all there is to report, at 1.30pm GMT. The Dow Jones is currently priced to reopen at around 34,160
