Dow Jones leads US closing gains

Right from the very start of the US equity trading session yesterday it was the Dow Jones that led the gains and it remained that way till the close. The Dow Jones rose more than 550 points at one stage, before closing 537 points higher, at 44,025. That was the first daily close back above 44k since December 11 last year. Since the closing bell the Nasdaq 100 future has caught up, but more on why that is later. Overnight the Asian markets are showing a distinct contrast between gains in Japan and losses in China. The Nikkei is around 1.7% higher, where the Chinese markets are as much as 2% lower and the reason for that is all about another comment from Donald Trump, regarding a possible 10% trade tariff on Chinese goods. That has kind of halted the Dow Jones futures too. So, right now the index is currently pricing little in the way of gains on the opening later today
