Dow Jones holds its ground for a record weekly close above 42k

The US stock markets drew to a mixed close on Friday. The Dow Jones was the only one of the three major indexes to hold its ground and not post a lower close on the day. The index closed at 42,063, after just failing to reach a new all time record high above the 42,160 price point set the day before. The high seen on Friday was set at 42,138. Overnight the move by the PBOC to reduce its short term repo rate by 0.10% has helped to lift the opening outlook for the Dow Jones later today and right now the index is priced to reopen at fresh opening record levels, currently at around 42,130
