Dow Jones futures still pricing a modestly higher opening today

As noted earlier today, the Dow Jones was the best performing major US stock index on Friday. The Dow closed then at 39,512, with a gain of 125 points on the day. The Dow Jones will reopen in less than 2 hours from now and the current futures price is indicating a modestly higher opening, right now at around 39,555. The all time high reached earlier this year remains in place at 39,899 (March 21)and it was of course not put to the test last week. That said, there is naturally opportunity for that to happen this week, but much could depend on what the US CPI report on Wednesday has to offer and how that might impact the US bond markets and yields. Right now, it looks like lower US yields will provide the perfect excuse for the bulls to have another go at fresh records. Naturally, the opposite may apply for the bears, if those US yields rise again and the prospect of a Fed rate cut gets pushed back further into the long grass. All to play for this week then folks, but right now the Dow Jones is set to open a little higher this afternoon
