Dow Jones futures lower this morning after US stocks struggle to hold gains into the close
Yesterday was a positive session for the US stock markets, but only just. The higher opening (at 34,092) for the Dow Jones and immediate high set at 34,167 were reported here, but that was the extent of the gains for the rest of the session. The Dow dropped back to as low as 33,989, yesterday evening, but managed to recover in the final hour of trading, later closing with a gain of just 34 points on the day, at 34,095, which was pretty much where it had opened. Overnight the Dow futures are lower, rocked by a sea of red in Asia today. That has been led by losses in the Nikkei 225, despite some disappointing trade data out of China released earlier. So, right now the Dow Jones futures are currently pricing a reopening for later on at barely above 34k. That might change in the next few hours, but for the time being the outlook is a little negative
